Find out a bit more about me and my blog here.
Mental health is a major topic of discussion in the UK with a lack of funding and cuts being made across the country many are worrying that treatment isn't being for people who need it and before it's too late. When we think of treating mental health, we often associate it with medication and counselling, but what about a more natural approach? There are more natural therapies out there than you may think, but what if I were to say that horses; our gentle giant friends could be a successful way to improve mental wellbeing?
Equine Assisted Therapy (EAT) is a type of therapy which involves horses to promote physical and mental health. When it comes to helping the mind, it’s described as the horse sensing your own energy and using that to recognise the issue and help to find solutions within yourself.
I’m Emily, and this is a blog about my short documentary on Equine Therapy and the natural approach to treating mental health. As a horse fan myself, working and riding with them since a young age, this makes this documentary something I can’t wait to create. Stay tuned to this blog as I investigate how Equine therapy works and if it really could be successful alternative to treat mental health issues.
